BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Police Department on Friday held a car seat checkup event at the Southmost Public Library.

The event ensured that child car seats were installed safely.

"Statistics show that four out of five car seats are actually installed incorrectly. So, this is what this type of event is for: to make sure that the car seats are set up safely, and that, in case they don't have a car seat that's not working well, they will be provided one," said Abril Luna, Public Information Officer for the Brownsville Police Department.

The collaborative effort by the Brownsville Police Department, Texas Department of Transportation, Driscoll Health, and the Trauma Regional Advisory Council gave parents peace of mind knowing their children's car seats were correctly installed.
