Brownsville police alert public of fraudulent phone scams

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville police are warning the public of recent reports of scam calls.

In a release from the Brownsville Police Department, Brownsville police dispatchers have received calls from concerned citizens who have reported receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be Brownsville PD.

Authorities would like to remind the public that the department does not request any form of payment relating to citations, arrest warrants, or any other fines over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call such as this one, authorities advise hanging up and reporting it to police.
