BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville has scheduled a mosquito spray in selected zones in Brownsville.
The city will begin mosquito spraying on Wednesday morning for zones 20 to 35.
City officials want to remind the public of ways to ensure there are no potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.
The following are a few tips to ensure you do not have standing water on your property:
- Eliminate Standing Water: Remove any containers or objects that can hold water around your property. This includes tires, cans, buckets, toys, and plant saucers.
- Maintain Lawns: Keep lawns and landscaping well-maintained. Mosquitoes often seek shelter in tall grass and weeds.
- Clean Gutters: Ensure rain gutters are free of leaves and debris to prevent water accumulation.
- Empty Water Containers: Regularly empty and clean water dishes for pets, bird baths, wading pools, buckets, and flower pots.
- Maintain Swimming Pools: Keep swimming pools properly chlorinated and circulating to prevent stagnant water.
City officials have considered the request for re-treatment during the week of June 23.
