BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville and its IT Department is preparing students with Smart City: Back to School Digital Skills Workshop and Laptop Giveaway.
The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the Brownsville Event Center.
The City's IT Department will support students in need of supplies by providing free laptops and hands-on training in key tech areas, such as internet safety, email security, banking basics, and an introduction to Microsoft Copilot.
Additionally Dell Technologies will provide laptop giveaways and NTT will supply backpacks filled with school essentials, while supplies last.
Those participating must following these eligibility requirements:
- Must live in the City of Brownsville
- Must be enrolled in a school within the Brownsville city limits
- Must show proof of financial need
- One laptop per household
- Must attend the full workshop
Applications are open until July 21, 2025, and must be filled out in their entirety.
