BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Metro is asking for public input on four newly proposed route realignments.

The proposed plan aims to improve safety, efficiency, and timeliness on busier bus routes.

  • Route 3: Boca Chica Boulevard
  • Route 5: Paredes Line Road/Alton Gloor Boulevard
  • Route 11: Old Port Isabel Road
  • Route 14: Scorpion Connect/Downtown Terminal

"We get reports, and we notice that those routes do tend to be running a bit late," said Simon Ortiz, Brownsville Metro Transit Manager. "We feel that this will improve the on-time performance."

Texas tax-free weekend begins Friday

Brownsville Metro leaders will host two public meetings to get public input on the proposed routes.

The first meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Main Library Branch, 2600 Central Blvd.

The second meeting will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 21, at the Southmost Library Branch, 4320 Southmost Rd.

"We really want to get the public involved," Ortiz said. "We really want their opinion, and we feel that these route changes will really benefit the public more than anything."
