BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Brownsville man was arrested Friday for a scheme targeting senior citizens.
Juan Jose Delgado, 37, was charged with six counts of identity theft and four counts of exploitation.

According to the Cameron County Sheriff's Office, Delgado would approach and offer assistance to low-income families to obtain nonexistent grant monies for home repairs and renovations.
Delgado would then use victims’ personal information without their consent to obtain loans under their names and then withdraw the money from the loans for his benefit, never to be seen again.
Delgado was arrested after CCSO received multiple complaints from different victims regarding identity theft.
CCSO estimates Delgado withdrew a total of $300,000 from his victims.
All of the victims identified Delgado as the person behind the scheme.
Delgado remains at Carrizales Rucker Detention Center pending his arraignment.
