Brownsville leaders celebrate coffee shop’s 50th anniversary

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Brownsville Coffee Shop #2 is a Brownsville staple.

Founded by Rafaela Manzano Alviar and now operated by her daughter, Jovita Chase, the shop is known for its homemade Mexican and American favorites, including its menudo and carne guisada.

Located at 3230 International Boulevard, Brownsville Coffee Shop #2 recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Among the speakers were Brownsville Mayor John Cowen and Brownsville Chamber of Commerce CEO Esmy Villarreal.
