BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Independent School District is preparing for its end-of-the-year graduation ceremonies.
ValleyCentral spoke with Brownsville ISD about new features coming to this year's celebration.
The graduations will feature new screens and a jumbotron, providing the audience with a larger and clearer view of their loved one on stage.
Brownsville ISD is also collaborating with CBS 4 to livestream the district's ceremony on air and online.
"We're happy that we're working with Channel 4," said Brownsville ISD Superintendent Jesus H. Chavez. "We want to be sure that families that aren't able to be here, or they're from out of town, out of state, can still watch their graduation and see one of their relatives graduate."
Brownsville ISD will kick off its graduation ceremony with Veterans Memorial Early College High School at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 29, at Sams Memorial Stadium.
Approximately 2,800 graduates will walk the stage on Thursday, May 29, through Tuesday, June 3.
All graduations will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Sams Stadium except for Brownsville Early College High School.
