Brownsville ISD approves 2025-2026 budget, includes teacher pay raise

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville ISD on Thursday approved a $609 million operating budget for the 2025-2026 school year.

With this approved budget, teachers, along with other district employees, will receive a pay increase.

It will include a $1,250 increase for teachers with 1-2 years of experience. Those with 3-4 years of experience will receive $2,500, and those with 5 years or more, $5,000.

Starting pay for teachers will be set at $56,000. Non-teaching professional staff will get a 2% increase based on the midpoint of their respective pay grades.

Classified employees will also receive a 2% increase based on the midpoint of their pay grade.
