BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Independent School District Board of Trustees has welcomed Neida Ruth Soto-Grantland to the vacant Place 7 seat on the board.

During a called board meeting, a 6-0 vote took place to appoint Soto-Grantland to fill the position left vacant, following the passing of Board President Erasmo Castro in February, according to a BISD release.

Mrs. Soto-Grantland has previously served Brownsville ISD in multiple administrative capacities, such as Principal, Special Programs Director, and Human Resources Director.

The release states that after interviewing numerous applicants for the position and careful consideration of each candidate's qualifications, the trustees were unanimous in their selection of Mrs. Soto-Grantland.
