BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Independent School District announced the appointment of its new superintendent.
Jesus H. Chavez will be the new Superintendent of Schools for the district, following a Board of Trustees meeting that was held Wednesday.
The decision reflects Chavez's background and experience in education, connection to the local community of Brownsville and dedication to student success, a release stated.
"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Chavez as the newest member of our Brownsville ISD family," said Jessica G. Gonzalez, President of the Board of Trustees. "With his leadership, expertise, and passion for education, we are confident that Dr. Chavez will inspire our students, empower our educators, and strengthen our community partnerships."
Chavez will officially assume his duties on Monday.
"I am honored and excited to join Brownsville ISD as the new Superintendent of Schools," said Chavez. "I look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff, students, families, and community members to build upon the district's achievements and ensure every student receives a world-class education."
