Brownsville Farmers' Market showcases young vendors

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Dallas is a young entrepreneur and discusses his business, Dallas Pet Shells.

Dallas creates pet shells by collecting and decorating seashells with materials like googly eyes and bows.

His pet shells, which come with special sand from South Padre Island, are sold at farmers' markets, including the upcoming Brownsville Farmers' Market.

Dallas's pet shells cost $7 each or $20 for five. He highlights the support from his family, particularly his mom, brother, and dad, in running the business.

He emphasizes that pet shells are safe, non-biting, and require minimal care compared to real pets.

If animals are your thing at the Brownsville Farmers' Market, then a petting zoo is for you.

Visitors can pet bunnies for $3 each, with unlimited visits. The bunnies, named Princess Royalty and Angel, are dressed in handmade dresses.

In addition, the market features live violin performances and storytelling sessions. The kids' market is open to those age 17 and under, and occurs every fourth Saturday, with no registration fee.

Brownsville Farmers' Market operates from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the kids' market starting at 10 a.m.

The business, Bunny Adventures, also includes a vegetable garden used to feed the bunnies.
