Brownsville community celebrates upgrades at Tony Gonzalez Park

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville community gathered Friday to celebrate the grand opening of a new and improved Tony Gonzalez Park.

The city collaborated with the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation to bring new bathrooms and a new pavilion to the park.

"We're creating a space where people could be proud of," said Helen Ramirez, Brownsville City Manager.

Ramirez says the city has been collecting surveys to get input on improving its parks and facilities.

The city has plans to install new splash pads, playsets, courts, and light fixtures across its parks.
