Brownsville closes main library after fatal shooting

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Brownsville has announced it has closed its main library branch on Central Boulevard following Saturday’s deadly shooting.

One man was killed and another arrested on Saturday following a disturbance inside the library located at 2600 Central Blvd.

Police say when they arrived, they found a man dead with a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities say they arrested the shooting suspect.

Authorities arrested the suspect. A Brownsville police official told Valley Central the shooting was tied to a domestic dispute.

A police spokesman told Valley Central Sunday morning the suspect would be arraigned today.

There is no word yet on when the library will be reopened. The city does have a second library located at 4320 Southmost Blvd.
