BPUB prepares for heavy rains, monitoring weather conditions

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — With weather forecasts indicating heavy rainfall for the Rio Grande Valley, the Brownsville Public Utilities Board said they are proactively monitoring weather conditions.

BPUB's news release added they are preparing its teams and infrastructure to maintain service reliability to swiftly respond to any impacts from an approaching storm.

In preparation for this weather event, BPUB has taken the following measures:

  • Monitoring weather forecasts and coordinating preparedness efforts across all departments.
  • Reviewing emergency procedures and ensuring all vehicles and equipment are fueled and/or charged.
  • Additional personnel have been placed on standby and are ready to deploy as needed.

“The safety of our customers and the reliability of our services are our top priorities,” BPUB General Manager and CEO Marilyn D. Gilbert said. “We are actively preparing to minimize any potential impacts as a result of this weather event.”

BPUB urges customers to monitor BPUB’s official channels for updates on service disruptions and restoration efforts.

In addition, BPUB encourages the public to have an emergency kit ready with essentials, such as food, water, medications, and pet supplies.
