BPD: Two brothers arrested in road rage shooting

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville police arrested two brothers who they say were involved in a road rage incident on Tuesday.

The incident began in Harlingen following an altercation and ended in Brownsville with a collision involving several vehicles.

On Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 10650 block of N. Expressway 77/83 near Rancho Viejo in response to multiple calls received about a road rage incident in progress.

The victim, driving a black Toyota Tacoma, was pursued by a white F-150 and a black Dodge Ram which were operated by siblings Edgar Gerardo Garza, 33, and Francisco Javier Garza, 29, respectively.

During the road rage pursuit, the victim alerted his father who rushed to the scene in a black GMC Sierra to intervene and de-escalate the situation. The confrontation then took a turn when Francisco fired a shot in the direction of both the victim and his father, striking the GMC Sierra.

Harlingen man wanted for allegedly stomping on, killing kitten

The brothers were arraigned Wednesday.

Francisco Javier Garza was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $75,000. Edgar Gerardo Garza was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. His bond was set at $35,000.
