BPD: Man shoots friend in head, arrested at border

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — One man is in Brownsville police custody after allegedly shooting his friend in the head.

On Sunday morning at about 1:17 a.m. Brownsville police responded to a call regarding a man being shot in the head at a residence, located at the 1200 block of Squaq Valley Drive in Brownsville.

Officers made contact with the homeowner who stated her son, identified as 31-year-old Geovanni Alexis Teran and his friend, a 35-year-old male were hanging out in the backyard.

As she was going to bed she noticed that the victim was sitting on a chair bleeding from the side of his head.

The woman told police she rushed to help and noticed that neither Teran nor his vehicle were at the home.

Officers searched the area for Teran and his vehicle but were unable to locate him.

The victim, who was conscious when police arrived, was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head.

On Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents notified the Brownsville Police Department that Teran was detained at the Gateway International Bridge.

Teran was transported to Brownsville City Jail and booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a 2nd-degree felony.

Teran was arraigned on Monday and issued a $250,000 bond.

The victim remains in stable condition, police say.
