HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The U.S. Border Patrol Rio Grande Valley Sector is hosting an event to recruit new agents.

This Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, the Border Patrol will host an event in Starr County, located at 5408 Brand Street.

Jesse Moreno, a Border Patrol recruiter, said the event gives the public the opportunity to talk to Border Patrol agents, recruiters, ATV agents, biking agents, boat agents and more.

"All of these individuals are going to be out there giving information and experience from their career to see what peaks their interest," Moreno said.

The event does not require professional attire and gives people the opportunity to communicate with agents in a casual setting to see if Border Patrol is the right fit for them.

Moreno says all you need to do is bring a copy of your resume. Those interested will be able to apply on site.

Moreno says the ideal candidate is between the age of 18 and 40, must be a U.S. citizen, have a valid drivers license, a clean record and good credit history. If you do not have a college degree do not worry, all you need to apply is one year of work experience.

To email the Border Patrol a copy of your resume before the event email RGVSector-recruiters@cbp.dhs.gov.
