Body found near canal in rural Alamo, sheriff's office investigating

ALAMO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found near a canal in rural Alamo Tuesday morning.

At about 8:58 a.m., deputies responded to the 2900 block of South Alamo Road regarding a body found near a canal. At the scene, deputies found a man dead. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A justice of the peace has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
