Benjamin Clinton named Lone Finalist for Mercedes ISD Superintendent

MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Raymondville Deputy Superintendent Benjamin Clinton has been named as the Lone Finalist for the Mercedes Superintendent.

According to a news release from the Mercedes Independent School District, during a special meeting held on Saturday, Jan. 11, the Board of Trustees named Clinton the lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

"I am deeply honored to be named lone finalist for the Superintendent of Schools position with
Mercedes ISD. I eagerly look forward to becoming a part of the Mercedes community and
working together with the Board of Trustees, parents, and community members to help every
student reach their fullest potential," stated Clinton.

Throughout his career in education, he served as the Special Programs Director, Curriculum and Instruction Facilitator, principal, educator and coach.

According to state law, the Board of Trustees must wait 21 days before officially voting to offer Clinton a contract as Superintendent.
