Bazan: Pharr Bridge Second Span should be ready by Jan. 2026

PHARR, Texas – Luis Bazan, director of the Pharr International Bridge, has given an update on the eagerly anticipated second span project.

“Right now we’re looking at January 9, 2026. That is the end of the contract. By then, we should be done with the bridge,” Bazan told the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service.

“Right now, we’re practically right over 50% of the construction timeline. As a matter of fact, just today, I was informed that they’re going to start working at night. So, hopefully they’re going to start throwing some concrete down. You’re going to start seeing that bridge really come to life here in the next few weeks.”

Bazan gave the update at a recent Summer Appreciation Luncheon hosted by the Pharr Bridge Board for the international trade community. In an exclusive interview, Bazan also spoke about the latest truck crossing numbers. He said things have been fluctuating, with some months showing better numbers than last year.
