District 32-5A’s top four teams are all squaring off this week to shake things up in the district standings. The action began with two games Tuesday and they didn’t disappoint as both went down to the wire and were decided by one run each.
Brownsville Lopez scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Brownsville Rivera for a 7-6 victory Tuesday at Rivera High School. The Lobos are now the last unbeaten team in 32-5A play.
A single by pitcher Alan Arizpe and a walk by right fielder Hunter Liendo gave Lopez runners on first and second with one out in the top of the seventh. First baseman Alvaro Parra drove in the game-tying run with a base hit to center field.

Lopez then took advantage of a Rivera miscue as Liendo scored on a wild pitch to make the 7-6 final. Rivera put one man on in the bottom of the seventh before three straight outs ended the contest.
Arizpe finished 3-for-3 with a solo home run and scored three runs to lead the Lobos. Catcher Nehemiah Garcia and center fielder Hector Arellano finished with two RBI apiece.
Rivera’s Andres Rocha went 2-for-2 with two walks and four RBI. He also pitched 6.2 innings and surrendered five earned runs off eight this and four walks with six strikeouts.

Lopez (8-2, 5-0) and Rivera (8-4, 3-2) will run it back at 7 p.m. Friday at Brownsville Lopez High School.
DISTRICT 32-5A
HARLINGEN SOUTH 3, WESLACO EAST 2: At Weslaco, the Hawks earned a hard-fought one-run win over the Wildcats on Tuesday at Weslaco East High School.
South shortstop Colby Martinez had two RBI on 1-for-3 hitting and third baseman Joaquin Torralba drove in the Hawks’ other run on 1-for-4 hitting.
South starting pitcher Aundre Guadarrama gave up one earned run off four hits and one walk while striking out five in four innings. Josh Ruiz pitched three scoreless innings to help seal the Hawks victory.

East pitcher Antonio Solis struck out 13 in six innings while allowing three earned runs off seven hits and one walk.
Game 2 between Harlingen South (8-3, 4-1) and Weslaco East (6-4, 4-1) is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Weslaco East High School.
DISTRICT 30-5A
MISSION VETERANS 7, RIO GRANDE CITY 4: At Rio Grande City, the Patriots scored three runs in the top of the seventh to get past the Rattlers on Tuesday at Rio Grande City High School.
Tied at 4-4 with one out and runners on the corners in the top of the seventh, Mission Veterans catcher Chris Ramos singled to left field to score second baseman Raul Reyna to give the Patriots the late lead. Jahziel Trevino scored on a wild pitch and Ramos stole home to put Mission Veterans up 7-4.

Rio put runners on second and third with one out in the bottom half of the seventh but a double play ended the inning and the game.
Ramos finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run while Trevino went 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk.
Hiram Lopez led RGC with 2-for-3 hitting, one walk, one RBI and one run scored.
The Patriots (9-2, 5-0) and Rattlers (5-5, 1-2) will face off again at 7 p.m. Friday at Mission Veterans High School.
DISTRICT 31-5A
McALLEN ROWE 5, McALLEN MEMORIAL 0: At McAllen, the Warriors completed a season sweep of the crosstown rival Mustangs with a win Tuesday at Rowe High School. Rowe previously beat Memorial 5-1 on March 4.
Rowe twins Javier and Zavier Garcia combined for the complete game shutout. Javier pitched six innings and struck out 12 while allowing just two hits and three walks. Zavier had one strikeout and walked one in a scoreless seventh.

Third baseman Alex Leon went 1-for-3 with two RBI and catcher Nicholas Hartman finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run.
Next for the Warriors (9-6, 2-2) is McAllen High at 7 p.m. Friday at Rowe High School.
The Mustangs (5-9, 0-4) will look to bounce back against PSJA Southwest at 7 p.m. Friday at PSJA Southwest High School.
DISTRICT 32-4A
HIDALGO 7, GRULLA 0: At Grulla, Pirates pitchers Raul Prishker and Larry Guzman teamed up to shutout the Gators on Tuesday at Grulla High School.

Prishker started for Hidalgo and allowed two walks and one hit while striking out 12 in five scoreless innings. Guzman took over in relief gave up one hit with three strikeouts.
Prishker also led the Pirates at the plate with a 3-for-3, three RBI day. Right fielder Jesus Garcia went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, and shortstop Brent Ian Szczuroski finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Next for Hidalgo (7-5-1) is a home game against Port Isabel at 7 p.m. Friday at Hidalgo High School.
