Good morning everybody. I want to start with by thanking Joaquin Spamer from RioPlex. Thank you for this invitation, Joaquin, we’re honored to be here. and as well as your wife, Lucila.
It is true honor to be here today as a representative and president of northeast chapter of AmCham. AmCham is the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
Representing this century old institution is a responsibility I carry with deep conviction and commitment. Since its founding in 1917, the American Chamber has served as a strong, consistent bridge between the United States and Mexico, working closely with both governments in assisting trade, investment and economic growth.
For over 100 years, we have witnessed and contributed to the development of one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world. Today through our Extended Reach Initiative, we’re taking this legacy even further. This program aims to expand our presence in key strategic regions of the country, recognizing our essential role in North American economic integration.
A key part of this effort has been to promote the RioPlex region, a binational area with extraordinary potential for industrial growth, investment and cross border collaboration. Through concrete actions, we’re building stronger connections between companies, governments and communities, reaffirming our commitment to regional development as part of shared vision between Mexico and The United States.
As the northeast chapter, we have focused on being an effective channel between the private sector authorities in promoting and constructing dialog, best practices and a favorable business environment for all. Now, more than ever, it is time to look forward and continue building the foundation of trust and collaboration that has defined us for over 100 years.
Thank you very much.
I would just want to take a couple of minutes just to you about my second hat. My second hat is as president of Banco BASE, a bank in Mexico. We were founded 39 years ago, and we’re one of the promoters of this organization. We have 16 branches throughout Mexico, 14,000 employees in the country, 16 branches, as well as being one of the fastest growing financial companies in Mexico. We’re focused mainly in import-export companies. We’re one of the top leaders in import-export volumes in foreign exchange transactions in Mexico. And it is pleasure to announce to you that our colleague, Daniela Pineda, is here and she is ready to talk to anyone of you guys that are interested in our group. So we will be happy to serve you. So thank you very much. And have a great day.
Editor’s Note: The above commentary was provided by Lorenzo Barrera Segovia from the podium at RioPlex’s Texas Port to the Stars FDI Summit held at the Westin Galleria in Houston on April 9 and 10. Barrera is president of the northeast chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce Mexico, and president of BASE Banco.
