Award-winning documentary highlights Edinburg mariachi group

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A film screening for the award-winning documentary "Going Varsity in Mariachi" will be held at the UTRGV Edinburg Student Union.

As part of the FESTIBA celebrations, the documentary tells the story of the Edinburg North High School Mariachi Oro's road to the state championship.

The film screening is set for Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a Q&A reception following the screening.

The film was an award-winner at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023 and will be premiering later this summer on a major streaming platform.
