Avelo Airlines no longer offering flights out of Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Avelo Airlines has announced it will halt all operations with the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport.

This restructuring includes a reduction of its flight operations out of Orlando International Airport (MCO).

This move is impacting several cities connected by their service, including Brownsville's airport, and as a result, Avelo will halt its services there.

Avelo has committed to maintain its operations to Orlando through August 3, 2024. It will
also continue its services to Burbank until August 31, 2024.

This decision comes as part of a broader strategy for the airline to optimize its network and operational efficiency amid changing market demands.

The Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport recently announced its newest
commercial airline partner, Aerus.

The Mexican-based airline will start offering daily, non-stop flight service from Brownsville to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in September.

Tickets go on sale July 8, 2024, on its website. This new flight service opens
South Texas to a new international flight option.
