DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — While most five-year-old girls are preparing for kindergarten, Miliana Rosales was fine-tuning her boxing skills and shattering stereotypes.
“Girls can do anything,” said Miliana Rosales Amateur Boxer. “It doesn't just have to be boys, I think that girls can have other opinions about things.”
The thirteen-year-old trains five days a week for five hours each day. Boxing is shaping her world inside and outside the ring.
“I can travel the world, and I can meet new people like famous boxers,” said Rosales.
Family plays an important role in Miliana’s life. Miliana’s mother and father help her attend her boxing tournaments and train her.
“We have talked about it,” said Marisa Ozuna, Miliana’s Mother and Trainer. “She says she wants to go to the Olympics. Try out the Olympics several, several times, and then from there, she would want to go pro.”
Going pro is not the only thing that Miliana would like to accomplish. Rosales hopes to inspire other young girls to start boxing.
“If you try and you don't like it, then you don't like it,” said Rosales. “But if you try and you like it, I think you should go on and work hard, and one day you'll be a world champion.”
You can catch Miliana putting on her next masterclass in September.
