MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — AT&T and Compudopt are collaborating to provide 100 refurbished laptops to the Disability Chamber of Commerce Rio Grande Valley for distribution to residents in need.

The laptops, funded by an AT&T contribution, will be given to recipients who were pre-selected before the event. This initiative is part of AT&T's broader effort to address the digital divide by improving internet accessibility and affordability.

"This effort is part of AT&T's initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability, and safe adoption," said Mario Barragan, Director of External Affairs, AT&T Texas.

AT&T has committed $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030. Since 2021, the company has distributed more than 23,000 computers to students and families across Texas.

The event will provide opportunities for photos and video shots of the laptop distribution, highlighting the community's efforts to bridge the digital divide.

By providing these laptops, AT&T and Compudopt aim to empower residents of the Rio Grande Valley with the tools needed to participate fully in the digital world.
