EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The annual Brides March: Victims of Domestic Violence Memorial Walk is scheduled for Saturday in Edinburg.
The Hidalgo County Family Violence Task Force, in collaboration with the Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney's Office, holds the yearly event to pay tribute to those who died due to domestic violence.
"This march is more than symbolic, it's a movement," said Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio "Terry" Palacios. "Each step we take is a step toward awareness, justice, and healing."
A gathering will be held at 8 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Hidalgo County Commissioners Court parking lot, located at 100 E. Cano St.
Participants are encouraged to wear bridal, white, or purple attire, symbolizing peace, remembrance, and support for domestic violence victims and survivors.
The event is free and open to the public.
