HIDALGO COUNTY (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County Animal Control rescued 45 dogs in an animal hoarding case Tuesday.

Hidalgo County Animal Control collected the animals and alerted the Palm Valley Animal Society of the incoming rescues. The dogs were owner-surrendered, a PVAS official told ValleyCentral.

According to a social media post, the shelter is at full capacity and is working with local rescues, fosters and potential adopters to care for them.

Those interested in helping can contact PVAS at the following:

  • To Adopt: Call 956.686.1141 or email adopt@pvastx.org.
  • To Foster: Call 956.278.0702 or email foster@pvastx.org.
  • For Rescues: Email rescue@pvastx.org.

Its Trenton shelter is also allowing people to stop by during its hours of operation if interested in helping.

PVAS said most of the dogs will require special care.

The shelter is running low on resources and is accepting dog food and monetary donations.
