Alton residents warned: GeekSquad scam emails detected

ALTON, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Alton Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a scam claiming to be the popular electronic repair service, GeekSquad.

Residents have reported receiving multiple fake emails from GeekSquad, or other well-known companies, stating they've been charged hundreds of dollars. The scammers then ask residents to call a phone number to cancel.

Alton police advise to not call the number or share any personal information.

"These are scams designed to steal your money or personal data," Alton PD stated in a public service announcement.

Alton police wants to remind those receiving suspicious emails to immediately delete them or report them as spam.
