Alton police link homicide and assault, suspects wanted

ALTON, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Alton police are investigating an assault and homicide that reportedly occurred within hours of each other and are believed to be connected.

William Hernandez, 34, and Juventino Rosales, 33, are wanted in connection with separate incidents that occurred the same night.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, officers responded to an assault on the 1400 block of N. Oak St.

Police say a woman reported that Rosales and three other people — identified as Danny Trevino, Crystal Trevino, and Vanessa Hernandez — attacked her.

During the attack, the woman claims Rosales allegedly pointed a firearm at her son as he tried to protect her.

Rosales is wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct.

Hours after the assault was reported to police, officers responded to a deadly crash near the South Stewart Boulevard and the East Israel Avenue intersection in Alton.

Police say William Hernandez intentionally struck a vehicle occupied by Danny, who was reportedly involved in the mother-son assault case just hours before the crash.

Trevino was taken to DHR Health, where he later died of his injuries.

Police say William Hernandez left the scene and remains wanted on a murder charge.

“This tragic chain of events underscores the importance of swift reporting and intervention in domestic-related violence," Alton Police Chief Mark J. Perez stated in a news release. "Our department is committed to pursuing justice for the victim’s family and ensuring those responsible are held accountable.”
