Alligator spotted near canal in San Benito

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Cameron County Irrigation District #2 is asking the public to be aware of an alligator spotted by a canal off of Vasquez Road in San Benito.

The public is asked to stay off of district property, for their safety and the safety of district employees.

A district spokesman said while alligators are common in the area, the district does not interfere with the animals out of safety.
