The Willacy County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday morning arrested a 35-year-old man accused of driving drunk and crashing into a bedroom window while two children were sleeping.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said the crash happened at 6:14 a.m. at the Willacy County Housing Authority in Raymondville. Two children, aged 6 and 9, were sleeping at the time.

“Upon arrival, Sheriff Deputies located the vehicle and observed the lone occupant to be a male subject asleep in the driver’s seat,” the post stated. “Sheriff Deputies knocked on the window until the male subject woke up, and when asked if he knew where he was, he stated he believed that he was in Lasara, Willacy County, TX.”

The deputies placed the vehicle in park, shut it off and took the keys from the ignition.

The driver is Guadalupe Hernandez IV, and deputies said he showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking.

He is charged with driving while intoxicated and two counts of endangering a child.

No one was injured.
