ALAMO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Alamo held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for its fully remodeled and modernized Fire Station #1.
According to the city, the reinvigorated facility represents a major investment in public safety, emergency response, and the future of our city's fire services. The fire station had been out of commission for 15 years before its makeover.
"We felt that it was important to bring t back to life," said J.R. Garza, Mayor for the City of Alamo. "Part of an initiative that we have here in the City of Alamo is to go around to the buildings that we own here within our city and revitalize them. Keep the historic look but revitalize them from the inside."
"For us here at the City of Alamo its important that we provide quality of life for our residents and this is just another example of that," Garza said.
The building will house roughly 25 first responders along with the administrative staff.
Fire Station #1 is located at 125 S. 9th St.
