MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man wanted for indecent assault and exposure out of Starr County was arrested Tuesday at the McAllen International Airport.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the suspect, a 52-year-old Mexican national whose name was not immediately released, has been wanted since May.
According to CBP, the suspect arrived from Mexico City on a commercial flight to McAllen.
During a routine airport security screening, a CBP officer discovered the man was a possible match to the arrest warrant.
The man's identity, along with the active arrest warrant, was confirmed through a biometric verification system.
“CBP screens all travelers entering the United States. When we encounter persons with outstanding warrants, we are committed to bringing in those individuals to face their criminal charges,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo Port of Entry.
The man was charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecent exposure.
He was transported to the Hidalgo County Jail pending his transfer to Starr County.
