RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers seized more than $956,000 worth of cocaine in Rio Grande City over the weekend.
The drug bust happened on May 16th at the Rio Grande City International Bridge.
During an inspection, CBP officers discovered 69 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a tractor-trailer.
The cocaine had an estimated street value of $956,070.
"This seizure illustrates the effective combination of CBP officer skill, experience and the utilization of all tools and resources, including our canines to zero in on hidden narcotics,” said Port Director Rogelio Olivares, Rio Grande City Port of Entry.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested by officers with the Starr County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
