$738K worth of cocaine seized at Hidalgo Port of Entry

HIDALGO, Texas (ValleyCentral) —  Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than $730,000 worth of alleged cocaine at the Hidalgo Port of Entry.

According to a news release from CBP, on Oct. 14, CBP officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge came across a silver Mitsubishi SUV attempting to cross to the U.S. from Mexico.

The vehicle was selected for a secondary inspection. During the physical inspection, officers found 22 packages containing alleged cocaine that weighed approximately 55.34 pounds concealed within the vehicle, the release stated.

The cocaine had an estimated street value of $734,843.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and narcotics. Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested the driver and began a criminal investigation.
