5 BISD schools on lockdown due to pursuit in area

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Five Brownsville Independent School District campuses have been placed on lockdown following a criminal pursuit.

Brownsville ISD announced on its social media that Porter Early College High School is on a hard lockdown due to police activity in the area.

Canales Elementary, Cromack-Castaneda Elementary, Faulk Middle School and Lincoln Park School are on soft lockdowns as a precaution, the post added.

Abril Luna, Public Information Officer with the Brownsville Police Department, told ValleyCentral that the department is assisting the Texas Department of Public Safety in a pursuit occurring in the Southmost area.

DPS is the lead investigator in the case, and Brownsville police are assisting the agency by barricading the perimeter.
