3 car accident claims life of child in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A child involved in a three-car accident on July 25 has died, according to the Brownsville Police Department.

The child was in critical condition following the accident around 11 p.m. at the intersection of W. University Boulevard and S. Expressway 77/83.

Police arrested 26-year-old Raul Rodriguez after he disregarded a red light at the intersection and collided with two vehicles.

At the scene, responding officers observed Rodríguez showed multiple signs of impairment, including physical indicators and behaviors that revealed he was intoxicated.

Rodriguez was arraigned the morning of July 26 and charged with three counts of intoxication assault with a motor vehicle, causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony.

He was charged with three counts of intoxication assault with a motor vehicle, and bond was set at $75,000.
