21 graduates complete de-escalation course in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office hosted a graduation ceremony for the completion of a 16-hour personal safety and de-escalation course.

On Wednesday, Dr. Ron Marinelli and retired Lt. Robert Repot presented the pinning and certificate ceremony to 21 graduates at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Academy located at 715 E. El Cibolo Rd, in Edinburg.

"It's an essential class that we need, and we feel that we must learn so that we can implement it out on the field as well, within the sheriff's, I would say, daily, on a day-to-day basis, it is essentially the core for communication," Deputy Ramiro Gonzalez said.
