MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Two additional arrests have been made after an underage drinking pool party left one Nikki Rowe student dead.

Emma Sofia De la Cruz, 17, and Mateo Areli Castillo, 17, have both been charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

The two are suspected to have contributed to organizing a party where a fee was charged and alcohol was made available to minors, including Adan De La Cruz, a Nikki Rowe football player.

Emma was arraigned in the McAllen Municipal Court Thursday and received a bond of $25,000.

She has been transferred to the Hidalgo County Jail since her arraignment.

Castillo is pending arraignment at the McAllen Municipal Court.

Just before midnight on Aug. 17, McAllen police responded to the 4700 block of North Bentsen Road regarding reports that a minor, later identified as De La Cruz, attempted to jump from the roof into a pool, but slipped, landed on the ground and hit his head, according to documents obtained by ValleyCentral.

De La Cruz died days later from his injuries, as confirmed by McAllen Independent School District.

The case remains under investigation.
