14-year-old’s shooting under investigation in Edinburg

The Edinburg Police Department is currently investigating a shooting involving a 14-year-old girl who was left wounded, according to a city news release.

Authorities said the shooting occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the 2100 block of Carlos Street.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they found that the 14-year-old had been shot in the lower back. EMS immediately transported her to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed that the shooting happened following a verbal altercation.

The shots were fired through the victim’s front door and she was struck twice.

This remains an active investigation.
