1 person injured after city garbage truck catches fire

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A driver, who was at a local middle school to pick up a roll-off dumpster, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation after a solid waste truck caught fire, according to the City of Edinburg.

At approximately 5:38 p.m. on Monday, the Edinburg Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at Barrientes Middle School, located at 1100 E. Ebony Lane.

Firefighters discovered a City of Edinburg solid waste truck surrounded by flames at the scene.

The City of Edinburg says fire crews quickly brought the flames under control and sustained it in the truck, preventing any further spread.
