RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The sole survivor of a National Guard helicopter crash near La Grulla has been discharged from a McAllen hospital, officials said.

National Guardsman Aircraft Crew Chief Jacob Pratt was discharged from South Texas Health System McAllen and will be transported to San Antonio for rehabilitation, according to Tom Castaneda of STHS.

Castaneda added that Medical & Trauma Specialists, an EMS provider, said Pratt would be transferred to Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio.

Pratt was one of four people onboard a National Guard helicopter when it crashed on March 8 near the southern Texas border. The crash claimed the lives of National Guard soldiers Casey Frankoski and John Grassia. Christopher Luna, a U.S. Border Patrol agent from Edinburg, was also killed in the crash.

A GoFundMe page for Pratt stated that he sustained multiple broken bones in the crash, including fractures in his back, ribs, leg and pelvis.

"While the full extent of his injuries are still being assessed, it is clear that Jacob has a long and arduous road to recovery," the page stated.

An update on the page states that Pratt will be moved to the Polytrauma & Rehabilitation Center at Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA hospital, where he will continue on his "long journey to recovery."
