Harlingen student hospitalized after being struck by vehicle

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A middle school student has been transported to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning, according to an alert sent to Harlingen CISD parents and staff.

The alert was sent to parents and staff of Vernon Middle School.

According to the alert, the student was struck while walking near 13th Street. School district personnel and Harlingen police were immediately on the scene.

"Although the student did not exhibit serious injuries, she was transported to the hospital for further examiniation," the alert stated.

Harlingen CISD did not provide details on whether the student was walking to campus.

No details were provided on the driver of the vehicle that struck the student.
