On Feb. 14, deputies responded to a home on Moyse Avenue regarding a disturbance. At the scene, a 25-year-old man reported to the responding deputies that he was assaulted by his neighbor, later identified as Hernandez.

According to the victim, Hernandez fled the scene before authorities had arrived.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez on charges of assault.

On Wednesday, authorities received information stating Hernandez was at his residence, according to the release.

"Investigators conducted surveillance at said residence and observed Hernandez leaving as a passenger in a vehicle," Cameron County Sheriff's Office said in the release.

When authorities attempted to approach the vehicle, they saw Hernandez get out of the passenger side and run away. A foot pursuit began, and deputies deployed a drone.

Hernandez was found and taken into custody. During the apprehension, authorities say Hernandez resisted arrest and caused minor injuries to the deputies.

Hernandez later confessed to investigators the assault that involved his neighbor.

He was transported to Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center where he is pending arraignment.
