Hidalgo Infielder Signs With Central Methodist Softball

When Vanessa Escalon first joined the Hidalgo softball program as a freshman, she wondered if she could hang with the upperclassmen. She soon found out she could, and the dream of playing college softball was born.
Escalon didn’t just survive, she thrived, named to the 32-4A All-District softball team as a frosh, a sophomore, and a junior, leading to today, when Vanessa signed a letter of intent to play softball for Central Methodist University, an NAIA program in Fayette, Missouri.
Escalon, the Pirates starting second baseman the past two seasons, is raring to go for her senior season, after which she says, she knows she will be low player on the totem pole once again, this time at CMU. But this time around, she is sure to be more confident she can hang with the upperclassmen.
