DHR to host hands-on ATV injury prevention event

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Due to an increased number in ATV and UTV accidents and fatalities in the Rio Grande Valley over the last few year, DHR Health launched a new initiative.

The Level 1 trauma center is taking a proactive approach to these accidents by educating the public on injury prevention techniques.

The course aims to equip riders with skills and knowledge to prevent accidents and deaths.

The first hands-on ATV safety training session will be held April 13. Registered participants are required to bring the following:

• Personal ATV
• Helmet that is DOT compliant
• Goggles and a face shield
• Gloves
• Long sleeve shirt and pants
• Over the ankle boots
• ATV manual
• Snack and bottled water
